Appearance Design Patent
The owner of a registered design has the right to prevent others from manufacturing, importing, using, selling or renting out his design products. A registered design protects the shape, decoration and visual beauty of the new design, but does not protect the way the design product works. Designs of various products can be registered, including computers, telephones, CD players, textiles, jewelry and watches.

Government funding application
The Patent Application Funding Scheme is a funding scheme implemented by the Innovation and Technology Commission. The plan is to assist local companies and individuals in applying for patents for their inventions in the form of grants. The aim is to encourage local companies and inventors to apply for patents to protect their intellectual achievements and turn the achievements into assets. The maximum amount of funding for approved applications can reach HK$250,000.
